Mr. Ray Kavanaugh, Chair of Destination Cape Breton Association, today announced that Mary Tulle has been appointed CEO of the organization. She will assume the position effective January 01, 2010. We are very happy that Mary has accepted this key role, said Mr. Kavanaugh. Her wealth of experience will certainly assist us all as we move forward in developing the tourism industry here in Cape Breton.
Ms. Tulle comes to Destination Cape Breton with 20 years experience in the Tourism Industry working in the areas of management, marketing, project management and consulting.
Ms. Tulle was the Founding Chair of Halifax Cruise Stakeholders, Founding Chair of Signature Attractions of Atlantic Canada, and served as a Board Member on the Domestic Committee of Canadian Tourism Committee from 2000 to 2006.
Ms. Tulle is a past Sales Manager of Check In Nova Scotia and past Managing Director of the Dartmouth Visitor and Convention Bureau, where she developed and executed marketing and sales plans, and ambassador and member programs for the Destination Organization.
Ms. Tulle stated: I am delighted to have been chosen as CEO, and am genuinely looking forward to working on behalf of all tourism stakeholders in Cape Breton.
Mary was the General Manager of Pier 21 National Historic Site from 1999 2003 where among many administrative duties she was charged with structuring a business plan and strategic plan that would ensure Pier 21 would move forward toward financial sustainability.
Ms. Tulle has worked as a consultant for the past six years. Her many projects have ranged from developing sales tools for Fairmount Hotels & Resorts and Carnival Cruise Lines to implementing a visitor satisfaction program for hotels, inns and bed and breakfasts in Atlantic Canada.
